Music engineers, composers and live sound hobbyists can eagerly look forward to Sonnox’s new product which they promise would help customers master their music-mixing skills and further their creativity to new heights.
Sonnox recently unveiled the Oxford Envolution, a frequency-dependent envelope shaping plug-in designed to modify the sound of individual tracks, busses and even master outputs in radical ways.
The Oxford Envolution consists of separate transient and sustain sections to radically re-shape the envelope of your instruments or audio. Users can use a broader tilt mode or the more parametric-style focus mode to choose which frequencies are processed.
You can insert on a track, bus or even master output to add presence and distance to drums, piano, guitar and any other percussion instruments. You can either use the boost sustain to make the recording room’s ambience bloom, or cut it for quick and precise gating.
According to Sonnox, they stated that Oxford Envolution boasted a comprehensive and independent that gives users control over transients and sustain. These controls consist of the ‘Tilt’ or ‘Focus’ controls, both of which the users can choose from where in the frequency spectrum the effect is applied. Sonnox also added that this enables complete manipulation of the audio’s envelope to produce creative and, sometimes even extreme, results.
Nathan Eames, senior sales and marketing manager for Sonnix, commented: “With such a wide range of potential users in so many audio sectors, from post, music to live sound, we’re excited about the creative possibilities that Envolution will bring. In keeping with all Sonnox designs, we’ve kept three core values in mind throughout the development process of Envolution – ease of use, an intuitive interface and most importantly – a great sound!”

I have always seen ‘The Oxford’ as a dated plugin as it is from quite a few years back, is it?
